STEM - Robot Programming in Room 13!
Today we have been busy programming our Sphero robots to move around the cones and return to us (lights and sounds optional). It was a challenging task and also rewarding to see the robots successfully navigate the course. Well done teams!

Art Exhibition
This week is our Sunnybrae Art Exhibition on Wednesday and Thursday from 3-6 pm. Come out and see Maori inspired cloaks. Thank you Mrs Smith for helping the syndicate with these cloaks. They look amazing!

Edison Robots in Room 13!
The Edison Robots have arrived in Room 13! Today we unpacked the Edison robots and started learning how to programme them! It will be interesting to see and try out the programmes written during the holidays in Term 4.

Maori Language Week Activity
On the Friday of Maori Language week students combined a technology challenge with Maori Language to help promote the use Maori Language. Students were asked to draw and design a scene that could be used to review Maori Language. The challenge was that students had to incorporate the materials and packaging from Chromebook boxes. They were also asked to research and include Maori words for key features in their displays. It was interesting to how see how their designs took shape during construction phase and how various materials were used in the scenes that were created.

Mindfulness Session
Today was our last Mindfulness session with Mrs Mercado. We have enjoyed finding out about mindful breathing and listening. The students also enjoyed the mindful eating activity and using their senses more when eating. Room 13 intends to continue using the Mindfulness techniques and we would like to thank Mrs Mercado for working with our class and the rest of the senior syndicate.

Great Kiwi Science, English and Mathematics Competition 2017!
This week has been a busy week for students competing in the Great Kiwi Competition. Registered students complete the online test in any or all of the following curriculum areas - Science, English and Mathematics. It will be interesting to see what the results are like with this new challenge from the University of Canterbury.
